The Stripe Braid (or Ladder Braid) Ponytail: This "stripe braid ponytail" is a variation of a hairstyle we posted last week, which can be found here: Stripe overlay braid.

This would be a cute hairstyle for school, dance, gymnastics, and other sports or occasions.  We love these  hairstyles that look unique and intricate, but are actually pretty easy and quick to complete.  The Princess has been wearing this braided ponytail to school quite often this year (since it only takes about 5 minutes to create!)  braided hairstyle.

ladder braid hairstyle

As shown in the hairstyle pictures above, you could combine the stripe overlay hairstyle and the stripe ponytail (video below) to make a "double overlay braid hairstyle." You could also try wrapping the braid up into a "striped bun" for another fun variation. We even made this ponytail with the strands crossing over each other (forming X's) instead of going straight across the other day for a fun criss cross ponytail. I should have taken pictures! The possibilities of hair styles that can be created using this braid really are endless.  If you try a style using this braid, we would love to see pictures on our facebook page!

Hairstyles Braids 2013: P.S. If you are planning on using this ponytail hairstyle for sports, I would suggest taking a strand out on BOTH sides of the first braid (instead of just the inside strand as shown in our video.) Then, as you are making the second braid, wrap the outside strand (that was taken out) under the ponytail and add it in as you are braiding.  This way, there will be strands wrapped around the front and the back of the ponytail for a more secure hold.  Hope that makes sense!

Box Braids Hairstyles 2013

Although we were apprehensive at first, we have to admit that BeyoncĂ© Giselle Knowles-Carter looks good with her newly introduced ’90s hairstyle. As previously reported, King Bey caused an uproar this week after being photographed sporting long, blonde, box braids. Leaving her fans torn over her new look; which is really no one’s business but her own. BeyoncĂ© was seen carrying her 6-month-old daughter Wednesday rocking her ‘do swept up in an elegant bun. She would later accidentally expose her daughter’s face for the second time since her birth.

As the temperatures continue to rise and more pictures of the braided beauty continue to surface, we’re more than sure that box braids will have a resurgence. With that in mind, here are a few more celebs who’ve sported or are currently wearing box braids; the natural hairstyle of summer 2013.

Even years later we can say with confidence that no one rocked box braids better than Brandy Norwood. No one. Brandy’s burnt end ‘do became her trademark and was emulated by little black girls nationwide.

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with box-braids as the go-to hairstyle this summer. The current poster child for fabulous box-braids is none other than Solange Knowles. This fashion and beauty muse has proven that box braids are versatile enough to work for a stroll through Brooklyn or while sitting front-row at an awards show.

Box Braids Hairstyles 2013: Aside from drawing inspiration from Solange, I’m also reminded of how Brandy made braids the go-to hairstyle for my generation long before their comeback in the past couple of years. No matter what inspires you to try this look, one thing’s for sure: Once you get your braids done, it’s important to care for them properly. Here are some tips to help you keep your box-braids on-point all summer long.

Everyone knows that the waterfall braid has become a very popular hairstyle. Have you thought about wearing it as a headband?  Well… we decided to try it and the hairstyle turned out simply gorgeous!

Hairstyles With Braids :

Begin by sectioning hair from ear to ear.  Secure bottom section of hair with an elastic to keep it out of the way. Secure the braid right behind your ear with a tiny elastic the same color as your hair.
